A Six Sided Makeover

When we moved into the Hand-Me-Down we also inherited some Hand Me Down furniture.

This little "beauty" was a toy-chest when I was growing up, housing stuffed animals, then toys, then Legos, then dress-up -- it's held it all -- and held up quite well under our use.

But as you can see it's definitely not the most attractive thing.  So we decided to spruce it up a bit.

First step -- paint over that oh-so-green-color

Step two was to cut some trim to make a wainscoting look on every other side:

These are for the remaining sides of the furniture:

Give them all a coat of paint (or two!) and they're ready to be attached.

We put the decorative pieces on, alternating sides as we went.  The final step was to sand and stain the top of the piece to a lovely dark color.

And VIOLA!

And here it is in its new home:

I can't believe another fabulous blogger has been wonderful enough to feature my DIY Pottery Barn Light -- Bonnie at House of Grace (who has an awesome blog!) was so sweet and featured me today for her Twice Owned Tuesday Party (which I'll be linking this project to as well).  Thanks, Bonnie!

Also thank you SO much Rebekah and Bridgette at All Thingz Related for tagging my light too - as their favorite for their All Thingz Related Party!  Their blog is awesome too - so I'm just thrilled that they chose to spotlight mine!  Thanks, ladies!!
