I transformed our Mud Room Closet into this:
Part of the reason I decided to paint the walls is becuase Purdy Paintbrushes sent me an awesome little package to try out. Now, I already use Purdy Paintbrushes, so I'm a fan -- but the paintbrush they sent me COMPLETELY solidified my love for them. They sent me this paint brush to try out:
And can I just tell you -- it is my new favorite. Do you guys have a favorite paint brush?? I used to -- but this is by far the best.
It paints SO smoothly -- the paint just glides onto the wall. AND -- I hate cleaning brushes -- but this one last through the cleaning and has dried up nicely.
PLUS, they also sent me a six-in-one tool -- have you guys used these? They do SO many things.
Look at all the awesome things it can do!
Scraper
The front edge is a sharp scraper that’s perfect for removing paint flecks, glue and even wood. The blade can even be re-sharpened after it begins to dull.
Spreader
Great for spreading putty or joint compound.
Prying
The short, flat side is perfect for prying. You can use it to open paint cans or remove the bolts from the door hinge.
Half Circle
You might be wondering about the purpose of this feature- I did at first. Have you ever tried to clean a roller well enough to reuse it? Well the half circle is designed to squeegee away paint from the roller.
Set Nails
The handle incorporates nail set ends for setting drywall nails and other hammering jobs.
The Pointy End
The pointy end is great for digging out putty or scoring dried paint. You can pry up staples or open up cracks for patching. I’ve used it for removing caulk and it works like a charm.
I LOVE the six-in-one and the paintbrush -- and Purdy is my favorite brand -- everything is high quality.
So how would YOU like to try out your own paintbrush (possibly one of your new favorites!?!) and a six-in-one tool?

That's a nice mini-site from Purdy... I've always been a fan of their brushes, just not the handles... wish they were more hand-friendly :) On the site I think my fave part is the "choose the right tool" feature... when you are standing there in front of the paintbrush section at the hardware store it can be a bit overwhelming! :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I already follow your blog in Google Reader...I also just became an official 'follower' :)
ReplyDeleteI was very interested to read that their brushes have always been made in the United States (Portland, Oregon). Good for them!
ReplyDeleteI love the showoff gallery! I have a Purdy brush and couldn't paint without it!
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower!
ReplyDeleteThose look like nice brushes. I sure could use some. *hint hint* :) I like that their website has a whole section with questions and answers. Hard to go wrong with all of those helpful tips.

ReplyDeleteSounds dumb, but I'd love to have a pole for my roller to make wall painting easier. My arms gets so tired!
ReplyDeleteI subscribe via RSS to my gmail account scg00387 at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteI checked out some of their demos, and they are all so true. Purdy covers so much better (EASIER) than their competition.
ReplyDeleteOhh, I hope I win!

I LOVE Purdy brushes!! Seriously, they are the only brush I use now!
ReplyDeleteI used to HATE painting (ok, it's still not my favorite thing to do) but when I bought my house last year, I knew it was going to require a TON of painting. So, I bit the bullet and bought the more expensive Purdy brushes....and they are worth every single penny spent!!!! They just make painting more precise and not as big of a hassle. And they clean up nicely too! So, I'm not surprised by all the stories they have on their site. :)
I like their Show Off Gallery - being able to see the cool things other people have done.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower! Pick me!

ReplyDeleteI like the show off gallery. It's so neat to see what people have done!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting the different types of brushes to use with different paint. (an answer in their "Ask Purdy" section)
ReplyDeleteI follow you on Google REader!
ReplyDeleteI learned that Purdy makes rollers! I didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteooh! fun giveaway.

I love the Show Off Gallery - what a wealth of inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am a follower!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of your blog and LOVE it! :-)
ReplyDeleteI visited the Purdy site and enjoyed reading the "questions" section. I now know the proper way to clean a brush after using it.
ReplyDeleteAs I'm new to Purdy products, I found the "Choose the Right Tool" section of their site very helpful.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a general contractor and Purdy is his brush of choice. If we do a project around the house HE does all the cutting in with his Purdy. He has also had it for years and throughly cleans it after each use.
ReplyDeletelove the 6 in 1 tool!!

I liked to learn that the brushes are handmade in Oregon. Go USA! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and huge fan! :)
ReplyDeleteI love PURDY brushes!!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to learn that all Purdy brushes are created by hand, personally and individually. Every brush you buy has a sticker with the initials of the person who made it! I can't wait to look for the maker's initials if I win the give-away!!
Also, I'm a daily follower of your blog!!
Thanks!

Oh those 6-in-one tools are awesome! My dad calls them the painters friend and I use mine on all sorts of projects. Its gotten rather beat up, but I wouldn't give it up for the world. The Purdy brushes look quite nice. I have learned that its worth it to invest in a nice brush, but I'd love to win one! I'm a happy follower.
ReplyDeleteI love the show-off gallery! What a cute idea -- I was surprised to see so many painted furniture pieces on it. I could sure use a new set of paint brushes. We were just doing trim work in the bathroom and our current brushes have all sorts of stray hairs that were causing paint to show up on the walls instead of the trim!
ReplyDeleteI liked the show off gallery but my favorite was the demo with the Purdy brush, a competitor's brush and shoe. The shoe cracked me up - and it doesn't leave bristles behind in the paint!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower through my google account!
ReplyDeleteI went to the website and am now very curious. They say their brushes dont leave bristles I always have issues with that!
ReplyDeletei like the show off gallery. Purdy does make the best brushes.

ReplyDeleteI learned that the brushes are handmade here in the USA--which is awesome! I LOVE your closet! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI follow you!
ReplyDeleteI loved the demo's. I really enjoyed the one about the rollers which allows you to cover more area without continually going back to get more paint on roller. Also the brushes that don't loose any of the bristles. YEA!! That will be great. Got to get one of those!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you can get special brushes for no/low VOC paints...that may save me some frustration when I paint next month!
ReplyDeletePS...follower!
ReplyDeletei rarely prime my walls unless i am painting over a glossier paint, dark paint, or putting dark paint over light paint.... but i read that you should always prime your walls. shame on me.
ReplyDeleteI moved into a house with LAYERS and LAYERS of wallpaper border in every room (the kitchen had eight layers of diff wallpaper border!) I used the Purdy scraper because the others kept rusting and then started painting- all the other rollers kept leaving fuzz on my wall! I swear by the purdy white dove rollers now!

ReplyDeleteI love the "Show-off Gallery". Many beautiful things that offer inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower as well!
ReplyDeleteI like their "Choose the Right Brush" tab...I feel like I was using all of the wrong brushes for most of my projects! :0
ReplyDeleteOh, and I've been a follower...and I love it! <3
ReplyDeleteI now want to try painting without taping up my area first. I am scared to, but I think the brush would do the trick!
ReplyDeleteLoved the Purdy site. I found out that I can reuse the paint remover after I clean my brushes by just letting the solids sink to the bottom and skimming off the top liquid! Didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteI'm already a follower and I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI used to help paint apartments for some landlords in order to make some extra cash, and when I went to the purdy website and found their demo of the roller brush I was sooo jealous! We always always always used the big fluffy rollers and just like it said, lint was left behind, it textured what you didn't want textured, and I was filled with regret that we didn't have/know of purdy rollers to make such an even and time-saving job get done fast! I would love love love to test out their brush and their handy dandy tool if I was given the chance! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh and I follow on Google Reader. I just started yesterday following and am so glad I do!
ReplyDeleteI like the gallery too. I learned why it pays to spend a little more on good brushes.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm already a follower! Love your site.
ReplyDeleteI just bought my first Purdy a few few weeks ago to paint my front door. I am super cheap and I had a coupon at my local paint store for 30% off a brush. After using it I would have paid full price. Worth every sent!
